rkhunter software package provides rootkit, backdoor, sniffer and exploit scanner, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install rkhunter
rkhunter is installed in your system.
Make ensure the rkhunter package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep rkhunter *
You will get with rkhunter package name, version, architecture and description in a table
